When the current fourth season of The Boys ends this week, fans will get another season of the crazy superhero hit. The series will then end with the next season.
Showrunner Eric Kripke has already talked about The Boys designed from the beginning for 5 seasons and for him, this is the ideal conclusion. Homelander star Antony Starr has also commented on the impending end and supported Kripke’s attitude.
Homelander star doesn’t want The Boys to run longer than necessary
In an interview with IGN, the actor talked about how the superhero series should not go beyond its peak and, for example, run one season too long:
I am very conscious that I want us to end really positively and strongly. I don’t want us to be the show that gets one season too many and then comes to a standstill.
On behalf of everyone who works on the show, I think we deserve to leave with our heads held high and not feel like we should have done this sooner, or that we waited too long, so to speak. It will be about the right time, but it’s going to be a tough goodbye.
Even though it is hard for Starr to say goodbye, he has already said that he probably doesn’t want to play superheroes in the future. He cites his advancing age as the reason for this, which means he is no longer ready for the physically demanding action.

When and how will The Boys continue?
The finale of The Boys Season 4 will be released on July 18, 2024 in the Amazon Prime subscription. Since filming for the final 5th season has not yet started, the last episodes of the series will probably not start before 2026.
