Daniel Nannskog’s huge criticism of this year’s EC – the SVT expert now puts his finger on what so many feel about today’s football: “It’s a trend”

Italy, England and France.
Daniel Nannskog is not satisfied with what the big nations showed during the EC – when he sees the entertainment in today’s football.
– It is a trend, says the SVT expert.

During this year’s EC, there were many who were charmed by Spain, who with their free offensive and clear passing football finally won the gold. There were also positive surprises such as Georgia, Switzerland and Turkey that charmed many at home on the TV sofas.

Nannskog’s criticism

But most of the talk was about how boring several of the big nations actually played. England went through as Group D without impressing at all, and having scored two goals in three games. France also struggled to perform going forward, and superstar Kylian Mbappé scored one goal during the tournament, and it came from the penalty spot.

Overall, there are many who have been critical of the entertainment during this year’s EC, and SVT expert Daniel Nannskog agrees. When he lists his talking points from this year’s EC, he sees the big nation, and the entertainment that we were treated to.

– Large nations that betrayed… It was very clear this championship, he says.

“It’s a trend”

Nannskog particularly highlights France and Italy as two countries that could have done significantly more going forward.

– You think of France, with all the offensive power they had in this team, that they got out so incredibly little. There were other nations that were very cowardly in their game; Italy, we didn’t even see a hint of an offensive and yet it is the reigning champion, he says, and also highlights England:

– England’s start to this championship was very much handbrake, very little movement.

Daniel Nannskog believes that what we saw from the major nations during this year’s EC is unfortunately a trend, and something that is becoming more and more common in today’s football.

– I was overwhelmed with text messages from friends saying that it is so boring to see these teams. And that was that! And it is a trend.
