Incredibly touching Sylvester Stallone farewell to one of his best

This is heartwarming and even the toughest boxers have to shed a tear or two: Anyone who wants to can Sylvester Stallone in his last appearance as Rocky Balboa on TV. In Creed II he says goodbye to perhaps his most important role and passes the baton to the next generation.

Today on TV: Creed II with Sylvester Stallone’s last appearance as Rocky

In the first Creed spin-off of the Rocky series, the venerable boxer has already taken the son of his former rival and friend Apollo Creed under his wing. Adonis does not know his father, but is now challenged to a boxing match by the son of Ivan Drago – and this same Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed a long time ago.

This is where things come full circle: Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) fears for the well-being of his protégé and wants to dissuade him from taking on the fight. After all, Adonis now has a wife and a child. But when the young boxer is seriously injured by Viktor Drago in a first confrontation, Rocky Adonis trains one last time for the second half of the season.

Creed II is the perfect transition from the Rocky to the Creed series and helps it stand on its own two feet

Rocky Balboa is no longer the focus of the Creed films – and that’s a good thing. He doesn’t even have to be the focus anymore because with Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed he has brought a more than capable generation to the table that can easily take over. After two films of hard training, it’s simply time to say goodbye.

The whole thing is particularly touching because, thanks to Creed III, we know that this farewell is final. The Creed films do not make the mistake of riding a character to deathbut you can let the character rest. But of course the whole thing is also very touchingly staged, but you’ll have to see for yourself.

If you even more action like in the old days want to see, you probably won’t be able to avoid one particular film this year. After what feels like an eternity, one of the greatest disaster thrillers of all time is returning… and part two is supposed to be even better than the original.
