On the evening of Monday July 15, an individual attacked a soldier from Operation Sentinelle who was walking around the Gare de l’Est district in Paris, before being arrested.

The “vital prognosis is not engaged”, assured Monday, July 15 late in the evening the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, on X, while a soldier of the Sentinelle operation was the victim of a “stab wound” to the shoulder while he was patrolling in the Gare de l’Est, in Paris. Still according to the one who remains a tenant of Beauvau until further notice, the man suspected of being at the origin of the attack would have been arrested.

According to a police source whose comments were collected by Le Figarothe individual arrested on Monday evening is said to be a man of French nationality, born in the Democratic Republic of Congo in 1984. Aged around forty, he was known to the authorities for a psychiatric history and “murder in 2018”.

The Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, also reacted to the news on the social network. He thus shared his “thoughts with the soldier injured this evening at the Gare de l’Est, deployed as part of Operation Sentinelle” as well as his “support and [sa] recognition to our armed forces who are participating more than ever in ensuring the security of the French people.”
