Roast beef, stir-fries and shellfish do not last many hours in the summer heat, and one reason for this may be that the bacteria staphylococci have ended up in the food. The staphylococci can be found in noses, throats and on the hands. – You can wash your hands thoroughly, but not all staphylococci can be removed. If you get infected, it causes you to vomit something terrible, often already during the picnic itself because the incubation period is so short, says Marie-Louise Danielsson-Tham. Eggs and mackerel are fool proof Good food for a picnic is the Friday classic tacos. Most of the ingredients are canned and not very liked by bacteria. And any minced meat should be deep-fried and kept next to cooling pads for as long as possible. – Do not touch the food with your hands. And the foolproof foods are eggs, banana and canned mackerel in tomato sauce, says Danielsson-Tham. The roast beef is unsafe because the packaging is usually opened in advance. Other risky foods are, for example, seafood and potato salad. Avoid what is fart fever But of course there is plenty to do to avoid stomach ache on the summer excursion. Danielsson-Tham advises, for example, to buy ready-grated cheese and leave it in the packaging for as long as possible. And then there is a basic rule: – Avoid everything that is fart-warm, that’s where the bacteria thrive best. And another tip: Always have household paper towels and wet wipes with you, says Marie-Louise Danielsson-Tham.
