French Miss Universe contestant is really tired of looking like

Miss France 2023 is preparing to represent France at Miss Universe. The 19-year-old from Guadeloupe is determined to shine, but don’t compare her to this international star anymore!

Last Saturday, December 16, the Miss France 2024 election took place in Dijon and one year after her coronation, Indira Ampiot returned her crown to her successor, Eve Gilles. But the beautiful story does not end there for the young woman from Guadeloupe. Indeed, Indira Ampiot was chosen this week to represent France in the Miss Universe competition, which will be held in November 2024, in Mexico. A new challenge that she intends to take up with flying colors.

She was even thinking about Miss Universe before being elected Miss France, as she already confided at barely 18 years old, to Paris Match, ahead of the 2022 competition: “The Miss France election also offers many opportunities. It is an excellent communication tool because it allows us to highlight projects that are close to our hearts. Projects that I would like to carry through to the Miss Universe election if I am elected,” she said!

For several months now, Miss France 2023 has been actively preparing for this event. On the agenda: trips to London to perfect her English during intensive courses for 6 months. Because Indira Ampiot is aware that mastering the language of Shakespeare will be essential to stand out against the candidates from the 90 other countries in the running. The 19-year-old, who will celebrate her 20th birthday next September, is putting all the chances on her side.

After returning her Miss France crown at the end of 2023, Indira Ampiot began to devote herself fully to her preparation for Miss Universe. A physical and mental preparation to be at the top on D-day. The Guadeloupean knows that she will have to face tough competition, but she is determined to fly the flag for France high.

Yet, despite all her determination and motivation, one detail seems to annoy Indira Ampiot. Since her election, the young woman has been very often compared to international star Rihanna, who is also from the Caribbean. If at first, Miss France was flattered by this comparison, she now admits to having had enough of it.

“Stop with this comparison! It’s very flattering but it haunts me, some people think that I dared to compare myself to her, when it doesn’t come from me at all,” she said in the columns of Le Parisien at the end of last year, at the end of her reign as Miss France. “It’s true that we have things in common physically and that we both come from the Antilles. But I want to be recognized for who I am, Indira, with my own personality.” A legitimate wish for someone who aspires to trace her own path with authenticity.
