The fallout from the assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump continues. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in a statement: “Russia has always condemned acts of violence in the context of political rivalry, and we strongly condemn this attack. We extend our condolences to the family of the person who died in this attack and wish a speedy recovery to those injured.”
Peskov stated that they do not think the attack on Trump is connected to the Biden administration, and said, “We do not think that the attempt to eliminate presidential candidate Trump was organized by the current administration. However, the political atmosphere created by the current administration is the reason that fueled the situation the United States is facing today.”

Claiming that it was known that Donald Trump was under threat, Peskov said, “The political system in the US has presented the entire world with examples of violence during the political struggle within the country many times in history. It was obvious to all external observers that Trump was in mortal danger, especially after numerous attempts to discredit him and remove him from the political arena.”
Noting that the armed attack on Trump concerns the domestic politics of the United States, Peskov said, “It is not our place to judge. We have no desire to intervene. This is the United States’ own business.”
