Captain of the Spanish national team Alvaro Morata got into the middle of the commotion in the last week of the European Championships. The Atletico Madrid forward complained on Monday about the treatment he received in the national team before the semi-final against France.
Morata by Representing Spain is sometimes emotionally taxing, and he doesn’t feel he gets the recognition he deserves.
The center forward was fed up with the situation in the quarter-final against Germany, where he was thought to have received a yellow card from the bench, but that was not the case. Because of the card, he would have been suspended for the semi-final against France.
– Some wanted me to get a card because “we play better without him”, even though things are going well, Morata told El Mundo.
– They said I cried because I got a yellow. Nonsense! I cried because my country – me as the captain – reached the semi-finals. I will be criticized even if I cut off my arm to win the European Championship.
In addition, Morata hinted that he may no longer play in La Furia Roja’s shirt after the European Championships.

Spain progressed to the European Championship final despite the Morata controversy as they beat France 2-1. Morata was substituted in the 76th minute, but he found himself in a strange situation.
After the match, a troublemaker rushed onto the field, followed by orderlies. One of them slipped and accidentally hit Morata in the knee. The captain linked Irvistelle to the team photo and had to hold an ice pack on his knee.
Morata got out of the situation in the end with a start and is fit for the final match. The Spanish tip was already in a humorous mood the next day.
