After shots were fired at Donald Trump’s rally, the former president has been showered with sympathy on social media.

“Now is the time for every American who loves our country to step back from all divisions, condemn all violence and unite in prayer for President Trump and his family,” writes politician Robert F Kennedy Jr, whose father was shot dead during his presidential bid , on X.

Another former presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, writes on X that “political violence is totally unacceptable. I wish Donald Trump, and anyone else who may have been injured, a speedy recovery.”

Starmer “dismayed”

Democrat Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, also shows her support for Trump on X:

“As a person whose family has been exposed to political violence, I know that political violence has no place in our society. I thank God that President Trump is safe”.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer writes on X that he is “appalled by the shocking scenes at President Trump’s campaign rally” and that he “sends him and his family our best wishes.”

Bush: “Cowardly attack”

Another former president, George W. Bush, wrote in a statement that “Laura and I are grateful that President Trump is safe after the cowardly attack on his life. We want to pay tribute to the men and women of the Secret Service for their quick response.”

Blaming Biden
