The man was stabbed in the face in his home in Linköping.
The perpetrator then left the scene, and the police are still looking for him.
The affected man was awake and able to speak and did not need to be accompanied by an ambulance to the hospital, the police say.
The police have not found any suspects.
The alarm came at 01:15.
