Tennis: Novak Djokovic to Wimbledon final – defeats Musetti in three straight sets

There was never really any talk of the matter, even if Lorenzo Musetti at times represented fine tennis.

Novak Djokovic won and celebrated his new final place at Wimbledon with a “violin gesture”. He has previously said that the hand gesture is dedicated to his daughter, who “loves” the way of celebrating. The star’s children were in the stands during the match.

– Wimbledon has always been a childhood dream for me, to play and win, he says in the victory interview afterwards.

The Serb started with strength in the first set and took it home to the numbers 6-4 against Musetti, 25th in the world ranking.

Applauded by Djokovic after the ball

At 2–1 in the second set, Lorenzo Musetti was responsible for a delicious ball that took him up 3–1. The performance, where he was constantly on the move, was applauded by Djokovic. But despite the 22-year-old’s magical game – the world number three strongest in an extremely tight set to 7–6 (7–2).

The third set was also well played. Djokovic, who impressed right through the match, was able, with some challenge, to serve home the set to 6–4 and the match ended 3–0.

The pass to the final opponent

It will thus be a repeat of last year’s Wimbledon final. Djokovic will face Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (defeated Daniil Medvedev 3–1 in sets). At the 2023 Wimbledon final, Alcaraz won 3–2 in sets.

– He will win many grand slams, but hopefully not here in two days. Maybe when I quit in 15 years, Djokovic jokingly says of his upcoming opponent.

The 37-year-old is thus playing for a 25th grand slam title in the upcoming final.
