“It served as inspiration” – Developers of The First Descendant respond to accusations of plagiarism

The First Descendant is a new loot shooter that fans put their time into grinding. Unfortunately, there were many accusations from the community that the developers had stolen from well-known titles such as Destiny 2. Now Nexon has spoken out.

You missed this:

Adjustments will follow soon

What did Nexos say? Paul Tassi, a big fan of Destiny 2 and editor of the US news site “Forbes”, was contacted by Nexon regarding the plagiarism allegations (source: x.com). The developers make it clear that they were inspired by Destiny 2. However, the team behind The First Descendant admires Bungie’s loot shooter and respects their work.

However, they have heard the feedback from the community and will change the icons that are too close to the original (Destiny 2). You can find the complete statement translated here:

The First Descendant was developed as a looter shooter game with a deep affection and respect for other games in the genre. Destiny 2, a world-renowned looter shooter game, is also personally admired and respected by the team and served as an inspiration during the development process. We took the concerns raised seriously and decided to make adjustments to ensure that the potentially similar-looking images clearly reflect the unique identity of our game. We will continue to improve the game for the fans of the looter shooter genre.
