(Telestock) – Intesa Sanpaolo participates as Main Partner in the 14th edition of Cortona On The Movethe international photography festival scheduled fromJuly 11th to November 3rd 2024 in Cortona, in the heart of Tuscany. This year’s theme around which the reflection of the photographic projects will focus is the body – Body of Evidence – in its multiple forms and expressions.
Intesa Sanpaolo and the Galleries of Italy actively contribute to the Festival with the photographic project “Chronicles of Water – Images from Northern Italy“, a production in partnership with Cortona on the Move that tells the story of the state of our planet’s most precious resource through a photographic campaign commissioned by Gallerie d’Italia in spring 2023 to the collective of photographers Cesura, promoting environmental awareness.
Michael CoppolaExecutive Director of Art, Culture and Historic Heritage Intesa Sanpaolo and General Manager of Gallerie d’Italia comments: “We have chosen to continue to be alongside the Cortona Festival, with the work of Gallerie d’Italia-Turin around photography, bringing to life a special project that tells of complicated months experienced due to the climate crisis. Ten Italian stories dedicated to water, to reflect on the defense of the planet and the relationship between man and nature. These are themes of the present time that highlight the value and effectiveness of this art form, in full harmony with the Bank’s commitment to sustainability”.
Chronicles of Water, made in collaboration with Green & Bluea newspaper of the Gedi publishing group focused on sustainability and the environment, aims to create long-term memory and to stimulate reflection on climate change, narrating the water cycle and its impact on people and territories. Through the shots of five photographers, collected in ten stories, the ideal path of the water cycle is told, from the source to agricultural and industrial exploitation, analyzing the different forms in which water manifests itself until reaching the mouth.
Inserted within the festival, the project becomes a path that offers a reflection on the symbiotic, and often fragile, relationship between the Earth and the human being, an intrinsic connection between humanity and the world it inhabits, in which the human body is placed as a guest that interacts with the environment, more or less consciously.
The “highlight” of Cortona on the Move will be the opening days of the festival (11-14 July), with guests including great national and international experts from the world of photography, engaged in events, presentations, talks and workshops.
Among the talks not to be missed is the in-depth appointment on the exhibition “Chronache d’acqua. Immagini dal Nord Italia” scheduled for Friday 12 July at 4:00 pm at the Signorelli Theatre with the participation of the photographers of the Cesura collective Arianna Arcara and Marco Zanella, Antonio Carloni Deputy Director of the Gallerie d’Italia-Turin and the writer Paolo Di Paolo, moderated by Cristina Nadotti, journalist of Green&Blue, La Repubblica – Gedi.
