On Sunday 26 May, things went completely wrong after the final of the play-offs in the Eredivisie between FC Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles. Riots broke out in which supporters attacked the police and used violence. Several officers were injured. In order to get the situation under control, the riot police had to charge. Officers used batons and surveillance dogs. Warning shots were also fired.
