Football: England’s Ollie Watkins responds to King Charles III’s call: ‘I don’t care how we win’

It was dramatic when England knocked out the Netherlands in the European Championship semi-finals on Wednesday. Ollie Watkins stepped in to score the decisive 2-1 goal in the 90th minute.

England’s King Charles III was, like most of the country, happy after the victory. But he chose to send a call to national team captain Gareth Southgate and the team.

  • John Guidetti’s crazy tribute to Lamine Yamal: “I’ve never seen anything like it”

  • – I would like to encourage you to secure the victory before any last minute dream goals or penalty shootouts are needed. I’m sure the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly relieved. Good luck, England, King Charles said in a statement.

    The reaction to the statement

In a press conference ahead of the final against Spain, England’s Watkins was asked about the message of trying to win in such a way.

    – As much as it makes things more exciting, I feel, personally, that I don’t care how we win or score, as long as we get to feel the net rattle, he says.

The EC final will be played on Sunday, 21:00.
