Foreign Minister colleagues Dmytro Kuleba and Péter Szijjártó met at a meeting on Wednesday, Kuleba states on X.
The meeting takes place barely a week after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s visit to Kiev, Moscow and Beijing. Orban has called the visits, where he met, among other things, Russian President Vladimir Putin and China’s ditto Xi Jinping, a “peace mission”.
The trips to Moscow and Beijing also came just days after Hungary took over the presidency in Brussels, prompting widespread criticism of the Hungarian prime minister.
Has presented an action plan
During the foreign ministers’ meeting, Dmytro Kuleba is said to have, among other things, updated Péter Szijjártó on the situation on the front and on preparations for a second peace meeting.
The ministers also discussed how to develop the countries’ bilateral relations. After the meeting, it was clear that Péter Szijjártó presented an action plan for economic cooperation between the countries.
– I have proposed that new border crossings be built and new rail connections be established, says Szijjártó.
Want to collaborate in energy
Furthermore, the Hungarian foreign minister suggested that the countries should strengthen cooperation in the energy sector.
– It is clear that energy security can be mutually improved if two neighboring countries cooperate, says Péter Szijjártó.
According to Szijjártó, Kuleba will go through the plan and come back with any comments.
