Ten years in prison for attempted murder – now a man who ran over a police officer at a traffic control in Halmstad earlier this year is sentenced, writes Hallandsposten.
The incident occurred in mid-April, when the police in connection with a traffic control was run over by the man traveling on a motorcycle. The motorcycle driver, who is in his 40s, was arrested on the spot. Halmstad district court sentences him, in addition to the attempted murder, also for aggravated drunken driving, aggravated illegal driving, illegal use and aggravated causing bodily harm.
Now a father in Södertälje is sentenced to forensic psychiatric care for the murder of his son in January.

Aftonbladet has previously reported that some time before the murder, the man had thoughts of harming the boy.
The murder is said to have taken place when he was at home and “wabbing”.

In Kharkiv in the northeast, where there has been intense fighting in the border areas in recent months, three people are said to have been killed. The governor there reports on heavy Russian artillery fire against several towns and residential areas.
Also in the regions of Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolajiv and Sumy, the authorities have raised the alarm about Russian attacks against civilian targets, both with artillery and drones.
Storbanken SEB lowers its interest rates with longer maturities, 1-10 years, by 0.10 percentage points. The bank’s variable mortgage interest rate with a three-month term – which generally follows the Riksbank’s policy rate both upwards and downwards – is not adjusted.
The announcement comes after Friday’s unexpectedly low inflation figures for June from Statistics Sweden (SCB), which fueled speculation about rapid interest rate cuts from the Riksbank and pushed down Swedish market interest rates.
For a two-year loan, the list rate at SEB is lowered to 4.54 percent, while for a five-year loan it is lowered to 4.09 percent. The list interest rates that the banks publish are significantly higher than the actual interest that a customer has to pay for a mortgage after discounts.
SEB’s average interest rate on two- and five-year mortgages was 3.87 and 3.42 percent respectively in June.
Earlier this week, Swedbank and Handelsbanken – the two largest lenders on the Swedish mortgage market – also lowered interest rates on mortgages with longer maturities.

Which electoral system is the most fair, our Swedish, the English, the USA or the French. Got curious in these times.
Bengt Gustavsson
Good question Bengt! And it’s probably not something I can answer, but a big difference between Sweden and the USA is that election day here is always a holiday, which at least makes it possible for more people to vote without having to take time off (if you don’t vote early then).
Why do you only answer ridiculous questions about pacifiers and sports, while respectfully dissing heavy topics that may be a bit sensitive and difficult to answer? 😡
Lars
Hey Lars!
I wouldn’t say we do, and when it came to the issue of pacifiers, it was a recall. So quite important information for parents.
Then it is not always the case that we can let all questions go through, e.g. those that contain serious violations or name publications that we ourselves have not made.
