Two suitcases had been left on a British bridge. They contained body parts.

Now technicians are investigating who or who were murdered – and the police are hunting a suspected perpetrator.

– We do not know what danger he may pose to the public, says police chief Vicks Hayward-Melen.

On the night of Thursday, two suitcases were found on the Clifton Suspension Bridge at Clifton, a suburb of Bristol in the UK. They were found to contain human body parts.

Now British police have released images of a man who is suspected of being behind the find – and who is still at large.

During a press conference Thursday, investigators from the Avon and Somerset area announced that the suspect arrived at the bridge by taxi and that the taxi driver is working with police to investigate the horrifying discovery. The taxi has also been seized, writes Sky news.

“Fleshed into the forest”

According to Bristol Police Chief Vicks Hayward-Melen, the man is suspected of having moved on to the nearby forest of Leigh Woods after he left the bags on the bridge around midnight on Thursday night. The police had arrived at the scene ten minutes after the bags were found.

Now Vicks Hayward-Melen says that the police’s “immediate priority is to find the man who took the suitcases to the bridge, identify the dead person and contact his next of kin”.

– Crime scene specialists are currently searching the bridge and the area around it, and the bridge will remain closed while these investigations are carried out, Vicks Hayward-Melen said at the press conference, writes Sky news.

– This is an incredibly upsetting event and I fully understand the concern it will cause all parts of society. We have currently increased the number of police officers in the area and I would urge anyone who is concerned about anything to speak to one of them.

“Unclear risk to the public”

The suspect is described as black, with a beard and a gold ring in his ear. He was wearing a black cap with a large Adidas logo on it, black jeans, a black jacket, black sneakers and a black backpack when he was caught on surveillance camera footage.

– In this situation, we do not know what risk he poses to the public. But if anyone sees him, we urge you not to approach him, but to call the police immediately.

Unknown number of victims

During Thursday evening, a forensic autopsy will be carried out on the body parts in the bag. The police do not want to comment on whether it is one or more people who are suspected of having been killed, or what gender or age it is.

Police have been in contact with the family of 23-year-old Jack O’Sullivan, who has been missing from the Bristol area since March 2. But according to the police, “no parallels” have been drawn between the cases.
