In Diablo 4’s hardcore mode, you permanently lose your character if he dies. A player recently found out about this because he was too naive. He had only just reached the max level.
Reaching level 100 in hardcore mode is a great achievement. Especially in the endgame, individual enemies can cause your characters to die and you lose them. And death in HC mode is permanent – there is no respawn.
A player reports on Reddit about the particularly annoying death of his necromancer in Diablo 4. He laboriously leveled up to level 100, only to die in a boss fight a few minutes later. He didn’t know what he was getting himself into.
How did he die? On July 9, user “Caligrya” wrote on Reddit that he reached level 100 in Diablo 4’s hardcore mode, only to lose his necromancer a few minutes later. She was killed by the Echo of Lilith.
He spent a total of 73 hours with the game character, as the screenshot shows. In the commentary, “Caligrya” notes that he only had something of his hunter in HC mode for “about 15 minutes” at the maximum level.
The Echo of Lilith is considered to be the hardest boss in the entire game. Many players think that the fight against Lilith is not fun and actually not worth it. But the author of the post apparently did not know that.
How do other players react? The community is discussing the death of the necromancer under the Reddit post. The top comment with over 800 upvotes comes from “imwear”. He writes: “Did you just try to defeat the Echo of Lilith right after reaching level 100?” “Caligrya” replies that he didn’t know what he was getting himself into. That probably shows his naivety.
User “Overall-Apartment-16” notes, “That will be your last stupid mistake.” But “Caligrya” replies, “No, probably not. But I certainly won’t do that again.” Others note in the comments that his necromancer “at least looked pretty damn cool.”
And “AlphaEpsilonX” asks in the comments how people even manage to get to level 100 in hardcore mode without meeting the Butcher early and dying. “Caligrya” says he has fought him ten times in total. It gets easier if you have a good build. However, another player died from the stubborn enemy. And the community reacted with surprise: The toughest opponent in Diablo 4 has become a laughing stock – now he is taking bitter revenge
