There was suspense in the first constituency of Loir-et-Cher for these 2024 legislative elections. Marc Fesneau was nevertheless in an unfavorable ballot position at the end of the first round, overtaken by the National Rally candidate, Marine Bardet, who collected 35.22% of the votes against 34.56% for the minister. Complete change at the end of the second round this Sunday, July 7, since the Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty was elected with 60.20% of the votes against Marine Bardet, RN candidate who was credited with 39.80% according to the final results of the Ministry of the Interior.

Marc Fesneau had called for the broadening of votes in his favour this Sunday, notably choosing the argument of standing up to the RN: “In the second round, our rally must be as broad as possible, around republican and democratic values, beyond our differences, while respecting the backgrounds, convictions and aspirations of each person. Whether or not you chose to trust me in the first round, whether you are from the left, the centre, the right or whether you no longer truly recognise yourself in the political parties: I know that many of you refuse, like me, the impasse that the National Rally would constitute”, he published on Twitter.

It was aimed in particular at the 15.35% who had voted for the diverse left candidate Reda Belkadi, who was unable to qualify following the threshold of 12.5% of the number of registered voters required. He had also seen his NFP nomination withdrawn by LFI after the discovery of anti-Semitic tweets published between 2018 and 2020. This transfer of votes announced as the key to the election could prove decisive as, to a lesser extent, that of the 5.95% who had chosen the LR candidate.
