The Netherlands took an early lead in Dortmund through a dream goal from Xavi Simons. However, the English responded shortly after after Dumfries caused a penalty when he went at Harry Kane.
Historic goal from Harry Kane
Kane took the penalty himself and managed it in the best possible way. A hard, well-placed shot in the left corner was unreachable for the Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen. The goal was Kane’s seventh in the European Championship, making him historic as he equaled Alan Shearer’s record for the same number of goals.
The first half was intense, with scoring chances in both directions. In the second half, England took over the game more and more, but towards the end the pace died out.
The substitute decided in the last minute
For a long time it looked like going to extra time after England had Bukayo Saka’s goal in the 79th minute disallowed.
Shortly after the disallowed goal, England made two changes – in came Ollie Watkins. The substitute and Aston Villa striker was a dream switch, as he scored in the last minute of the match to fire England to a second straight European Championship final.
England now face Spain in the final on Sunday at 9pm in Berlin.
