NATO member states must be prepared to expand their industrial capacity in the defense industry if they are to be able to keep pace with Russia. The message comes from US President Joe Biden in connection with the NATO meeting in Washington.
– We cannot allow the alliance to fall behind, critical defense equipment must be produced faster, Biden said in a speech.
Several defense companies have greatly expanded their production in recent years, but also face a number of challenges, something that Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson sees as a problem at the moment.
– Right now it’s a big challenge because all countries are “stepping up” at the same time, as are all companies, Kristersson told TT at today’s press conference.
– There is a shortage of many things, the defense industry is complex and does not expand very quickly.
