Trampoline, BMX… The Alice in Wonderland show revisited at Disneyland Paris: we tested it as a family

Trampoline BMX The Alice in Wonderland show revisited at Disneyland

If you wanted the ending of the famous Alice in Wonderland cartoon, Disneyland Paris has granted one of your wishes. The park’s brand new show pits Alice against the Queen of Hearts. We saw it as a family, and the least we can say is that we were totally surprised…

Receiving the invitation to attend the new show on Alice in Wonderland At Disneyland Paris, I said to myself “Oh, it’s probably yet another re-adaptation.” from the cult cartoon from 1951… I was wrong! Very quickly, reading the email, I was intrigued by the program: choreography, pop-rock music, aerial acrobatics and tricks performed by BMX professionals. That was all I needed to want to see it with my own eyes. So it was as a family, accompanied by my sister and my niece, aged 7, that we went to Marne-la-Vallée to discover the show “Alice and the Queen of Hearts: Return to Wonderland”.

For this performance, the meeting point was at the Theater of the Stars in Walt Disney Studios Park, just behind the Tower of Terror attraction. To be on the safe side, to avoid being stuck in a long line, we went there early, at least twenty minutes before the start of the show, and we did well, because once we were seated in the open-air theater, which offers a large capacity, the best rows were quickly occupied.

Once seated, the wait passed quite quickly since our eyes were riveted on the impressive sets, elaborate with containers, skate park ramps and a central stage, surrounded by giant screens. No detail was left to chance, the universe is colorful and offbeat like Wonderland.

After discovering the decor, it’s time for the show, or at least the “tea party” crazy, launched by the Mad Hatter. Everyone is invited to the event: Alice, the Queen of Hearts and the public. As usual, the Mad Hatter has come up with a crazy challenge to finally decide who, Alice or the Queen of Hearts, makes the most noise.

For this duel, the two protagonists will have to compete in song. They will be accompanied by their faithful supporters. On one side, for Alice, dancers dressed as daisies and acrobats who do trampoline numbers. On the other, for the Queen of Hearts, BMX pros who fly into the air and drummers who make themselves heard. A complete show, where singing, dancing and artistic performance are mixed.

Although the music is mostly in English, which can be difficult for children to understand, the Disney magic works: we are plunged directly into the heart of the game. “It was great, there was movement everywhere. I loved it, especially the moment when we got to dance with Alice…”, Iris, 7, told us. So, will little Alice’s power of imagination win the final duel? Only the audience will be able to judge!
