On Monday, July 1st, Matthieu Delormeau, former columnist for TPMP on C8, was arrested in front of his home in the middle of a transaction with a drug dealer. He has since been summoned under therapeutic injunction for drug use. What does this mean?
According to information revealed in the press, the former TV host and columnist of TPMP Matthieu Delormeau was arrested in front of his home on Monday July 1st, buying cocaine from a drug trafficker.
Placed in police custody for drug use
A later search led police to find other illicit substances at the host’s home: MDMA and GHB, another white powder currently being analysed, and cannabis.

Therapeutic injunction is not an obligation
This therapeutic injunction, which resembles the obligation of care in terms, is in fact quite different. The therapeutic injunction “strongly encourages” the patient or the addicted person here, to take care of themselves and to follow a therapy to cure their addictions.
Unlike the obligation of care, which leaves no choice and intervenes in the legal decision (the accused is obliged to subscribe to it), it is not imposed but is presented as a “complementary” legal response to existing measures (criminal sanction or obligation of care).
The ARS Ile-de-France defines it as follows on its website: “It is intended for people who have used narcotics or habitually and excessively consumed alcohol. Objective: to make users aware of the risks associated with their consumption practices and to encourage them to enter into a process of care”.
If Matthieu Delormeau agrees to this injunction, his medical follow-up will then be entrusted to a relay doctor, appointed by the Regional Health Agency, who will have to receive him for an initial medical appointment within one month of receiving the procedural documents. The doctor will then inform the judicial authority of his opinion on the benefits of this measure.
He can also choose immediately, or within ten days, a doctor to take charge of him. A case which only applies to cases of alcohol or drug abuse.
Matthieu Delormeau at his worst? His relatives deny it
While the press does not say whether the 50-year-old host has decided to undergo therapy, the idea is probably not a bad one. Several signs and rumors suggest a man in a very bad way since his departure from TPMP in May 2023. Several media outlets have also reported a possible suicide attempt and hospitalization following his release from police custody over the weekend. Facts that his entourage hastened to deny.
