A few months before the arrival of the next Call of Duty, the Xbox Game Pass is revising its prices upwards. Prices that should increase by 20% by the end of the year.
This is an announcement that had the effect of a bomb on users. On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Microsoft published a list of updates for its Game Pass. Bad news, it is indeed the prices of the annual packages that are impacted again.
Detailed announcements, available on the Xbox support siteaddress several important points. First, the Xbox Game Pass subscription on console will no longer be accessible to new users starting July 10, 2024. Regular users who already have a subscription can rest assured, as Microsoft has confirmed that they will be able to continue enjoying their subscription. On X (formally Twitter), the user @klobrille notably made a summary of the offers which will be impacted by the increase.
The list of updates is long since Microsoft has decided to introduce a new subscription formula: the “Xbox Game Pass Standard“. However, players will not benefit from access to the games upon release, nor from the “cloud gaming” or PC Game Pass. There is, however, one advantage: the subscription includes multiplayer and over a hundred games. The monthly price of Xbox Game Pass Standard is expected to start at €14.99. There is no guarantee that it will not increase in the months or years to come.
Current subscription offers are not exempt from the price increase. Indeed, the Xbox Game Pass, which includes all services, will see its price increase by 3 euros, going from 14.99 euros per month to 17.99 euros per month. The PC Game Pass, initially set at 9.99 euros per month, will also undergo an increase and could reach 11.99 euros per month. Finally, the Xbox Game Pass Core should increase from 59.99 euros per year to 69.99 euros per year. However, its price remains at 6.99 euros per month.
Microsoft has clarified that the new prices for the various Game Pass subscription plans will go into effect on July 10, 2024 for new members and September 12, 2024 for existing members.
