Soccer world champion Thomas Müller ends his national team career, says the German newspaper Bild. Müller’s last international match will be last Friday’s quarter-final of the European home championships, which Germany lost to Spain with 1-2 goals.

– It is possible that this was my last international match. I sit down with the national team coach. We have a very confidential relationship, 34-year-old Müller said already after the match played in Stuttgart.

Müller has played 131 international matches. Only more Germans have played than him Lothar Matthäus (150) and Miroslav Klose (137).

Müller won the top scorer in the World Cup competitions in 2010 and was one of the key players of Germany’s World Cup gold team in 2014. In the European Championships, Germany reached the semi-finals in Müller’s era at their best in 2012 and 2016.

At the club team level, Müller will continue playing for Bayern Munich at least next season.
