Bus in regular traffic backed up several hundred meters on the highway

The bus driver is charged with having created a dangerous traffic situation by stopping and reversing approximately 300 meters with one of Länstrafiken’s buses. This after missing the exit from E4 to Torsvik in Jönköping. The incident occurred at the beginning of November last year and the evidence includes film sequences from surveillance cameras and interviews with passengers on the bus.

The driver claims in police interrogations that he received a warning signal about a low engine oil level just after driving onto the approach to Torsvik. Although the journey was able to continue with the warning lights activated, the driver became stressed and began reversing to reach the exit.

The driver denies wrongdoing
A video sequence from the scene shows that the driver was watching a video on his cell phone while driving the bus, something the driver denies.

Prosecutor Heléne Thomasson has charged the driver with violating the Traffic Offenses Act, which means that he either knowingly took a risk or seriously failed to exercise due care and caution to reduce the risk of accidents. The driver admits to the sequence of events but denies wrongdoing.
