A new game has been announced on Steam in which you explore the untamed wilderness of the Wild West and are faced with difficult decisions.

What game is this about? ColdRidge is a new turn-based game on Steam that will present you with difficult decisions. It is being developed by a group of strategy veterans who worked for 12 years for the French studio Amplitude (known for Humankind, among other things) and have now come together under the name Frog Collective.

Their first own project will now be a turn-based exploration game in the Wild West, but with a mystical touch.

What awaits you? The trailer gives you a first look at the graphics and gameplay that awaits you in ColdRidge. Everything seems to be kept quite simple and clear, but graphically designed with loving drawings and in the typical western colors.

In the game, you take on the role of a prospector and traverse the untamed wilderness of ColdRidge, although your task sounds simple at first:

  • Explore the unknown areas of ColdRidge and map resources for powerful guilds.
  • You accept various contracts, which you fulfill by carefully planning your moves. In order to gain advantages and overcome obstacles, for example, you should always include the terrain and your equipment in your plans.
  • You should manage contracts strategically to maximize your profits and ensure your long-term survival.
  • As you explore the wilderness, you will come across complex puzzles that need to be solved.
  • Between your guild missions, you can buy new equipment from vendors to make your life a little easier.

    • As the trailer shows, it is important that you complete your tasks by the right time if you don’t want to be thrown outside the settlement walls in winter.

    You can buy magical portals from the merchant, as the trailer shows. How exactly these work and whether you can use them to quickly travel back and forth between different places is not yet entirely clear.

    Maybe the magical portals will simply lead you to completely unknown places. Because it becomes clear that there is no “normal” Wild West waiting for you in ColdRidge. Fans of another genre can also plunge into a new adventure from June 2024: A new MMO will take you to the Wild West and will be released on Steam in June
