“We are modernizing”: a century-old low-cost fashion brand is ready to do anything to survive

We are modernizing a century old low cost fashion brand is ready

This iconic fashion brand, appreciated for its large spaces and low prices, seems to be going through a difficult time. To get through it, the label reveals that it has more than one trick up its sleeve… We’ll tell you more!

New twist in the fashion sphere! After the closure of famous brands such as Camaïeu, Minelli or San Marina, it is the turn of a Dutch chain to face the economic crisis of the sector. However, unlike the latter, this fashion giant has not said its last word. Discover the latest cards that this renowned brand is preparing to play, for the greatest pleasure of its customers.
For several years, this ready-to-wear house has been forced to close around thirty of its stores. Due to lack of profits, the Dutch group has closed its doors on Rue de Rivoli in Paris, Le Havre, Argenteuil and Brest. The brand has also had to abandon its plans to strengthen its online presence as well as its collaborations with various sites such as Zalando and Amazon. But that’s not all! On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, while she had been in office since 2021, the CEO of the brand announced her sudden departure. A hard blow, therefore, for the brand which is currently looking for a new leader. However, the fight continues for this company with the red and white logo since several recovery strategies are underway. Indeed, the group opened a new store in the Mon Grand Plaisir shopping center in Yvelines last June, namely that the store had not opened a new point of sale in France for 11 years. This time, the concept is intended to be more “urban”, with a reduced sales area, focused on inspiration, the shopping experience and customer relations. The label has already organized, on several occasions, various workshops of personal shopping, manicure, makeup or clothing customization. Regarding the items on sale, Nadia Bothorel, who has been at the head of the French market since the end of 2023, took the opportunity to announce: “It’s a brand that is modernizing, which is proud to offer its customers increasingly trendy and good quality products.” All of this is part of an ecological approach since 80% of the store’s furniture has been reused, without forgetting that this store in Yvelines is the first in the chain to offer automatic checkouts.

So, what is this fashion brand that is going all out? It is the international chain C&A, whose first warehouse opened in 1841 in the Netherlands. A new lease of life is therefore to be expected for the famous brand since the latter plans to open 100 new addresses in Europe, in the next three years. Enough to restore its image!
