Earthquake in Rhodes – Tui warns guests

Shortly after 11 o’clock an earthquake occurred in Rhodes, several Greek authorities report.
The magnitude was measured at 4.8 on the Richter scale, according to the US Geological Survey.

The epicenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 80 kilometers about 27 kilometers from Rhodes. It has also been felt along the Turkish coast.

Earthquakes between 4.5 and 5.5 on the Richter scale are defined as “moderate”.

The travel company Tui has sent out a warning to its guests on the island.

– Earthquakes are quite common in Greece, in some cases we send out information to our guests. We think it’s better to send too many text messages than too few, says Adam Györki, Nordic communications manager at Tui to The evening paper.
