Armand Duplantis breaks the silence – new words about the criticism of the scantily clad pictures of him: “I don’t understand…”

A scantily clad picture of Armand Duplantis had to be taken down.
Now the pole vault star breaks the silence about the criticism against him.
– I don’t understand it, he says in SVT’s “Kallprat”.

Armand Duplantis is the pole vaulter of all time with several world records and championship gold, and in just a few weeks he will compete in Paris to defend his Olympic gold. Duplantis is one of the biggest favorites of the entire Olympic Games, regardless of sport or discipline, and in Sweden he is extremely popular after all his successes.

Now breaking the silence

Duplantis always wins prizes at various galas, and it is not often that he ends up in the firing line of criticism. But before the WC last year, there were some headlines about Mondo that were not of the more positive kind. In connection with an advertising campaign from Aqua Dental, there were advertising pictures of Duplantis on the Internet where he was lying shirtless in his bed. Some felt it was too casual, leading the company to remove the post from its Instagram.

Duplantis had to answer a number of questions about the whole thing in connection with the WC, and in SVT’s “Kallprat” Duplantis is now breaking his silence again about the criticism he received.

– I don’t think it was my idea. We only drove “a day in my life”, and I usually don’t wear a t-shirt in the morning. It just happened that way, he says in the program.

“I do not get it…”

For Armand Duplantis, the criticism came as a great surprise, as for him it was a completely natural picture to take, and something that corresponded well with reality.

– I’m quite comfortable with my body, so I didn’t think too much about it. I don’t know what kind of criticism it was, I don’t understand the point… but I don’t think much about it, he says.

Armand Duplantis, however, managed to brush aside the noise and saw no problem with the questions he had to receive. He won his second straight WC gold just days later, after going clear up to 6.10.

– I got some questions and everything, but I was like, “What is this?”. There was nothing that stressed me, it was just: “Esh, screw it,” he says.
