Former Minister Elect His Result in Detail

Aurélien Rousseau was elected MP after the second round of the legislative elections. The former minister won his first election.

He was on the right track, and that was confirmed. Aurélien Rousseau was elected deputy of the 7th constituency of YvelinesSunday July 7, 2024. Engaged in a three-way race against a Macronist candidate and a candidate labeled “various extreme right”, Emmanuel Macron’s former Minister of Health was credited with 39.14% of the vote, ahead of Nadia Hai (32.95%) and Babette de Rozières (27.91%). The final results confirmed his victory. The man who was Elisabeth Borne’s chief of staff, before a stint in Health, then slamming the door on the government, will therefore, for the first time, sit as a deputy in the National Assembly, under the banner of the New Popular Front.

This election was a real challenge for the candidate who is trying his luck for the first time. Born in Alès, Aurélien Rousseau grew up in the Gard. He does not live in the Yvelines and therefore had no direct link with the constituency in which he had been invested as a candidate by the NFP. Furthermore, it was historically classified as right-wing and had not sent any left-wing MPs since 1988. 36 years later, a new page of history is therefore being written in this territory.
