Roadworks on the E4 outside Nyköping caused kilometer-long traffic jams on Monday and several media have reported holidaymakers stuck in traffic for hours. Now the Swedish Transport Administration backs down and the work will instead be carried out at night.
– The roads must be safe, secure and passable for both motorists and those who work along them, which is why we had to reschedule the road work to nighttime instead, says Trafikverket’s communicator Maria Mauritzon.
The road work is expected to be completed by Friday morning. Motorists who drive on the E4 will still notice that roadworks are in progress. But not to the same extent as before.
