New World will get its second major expansion, Aeternum, in 2024, which will bring the game to the console. We’ll show you everything you need for the launch of the MMORPG.

The MMORPG New World will also be released on consoles in the fall. This includes the second major expansion for the game, Aeternum.

So that you can get started right away on October 15th, you should prepare properly. We’ll explain everything you need to know about the launch on the console.

Choose an edition

New World is not free2play and therefore players have to choose an edition before launch. The following are available:

  • The standard edition, which includes the New World base game and all add-ons that are currently available.
  • The Deluxe Edition, which in addition to everything the Standard Edition offers, also includes the Corrupted Mauler bear mount and the Corrupted Soul armor skin.

    • The standard edition costs €59.99 and the deluxe edition costs €79.99. The prices are the same on both consoles.

    The two editions in comparison

    Who is the edition worth it for? Since the Deluxe Edition does not contain any gameplay advantages, it is probably aimed more at New World players who place a lot of importance on their appearance or who already know from the PC version that they like the game. So if you can do without special skins, the Standard Edition would be the better choice.

    Variety of weapons makes a group stronger

    Tips for a good start in the game

    If you’re new to New World, you shouldn’t decide on a weapon straight away. Take a look at what you like and what weapon you can handle. Leveling up weapons takes time and if you stop liking your weapon during the game, you’ll basically have to start from scratch again.

    You only receive your talent points and skills when you carry a weapon of the same type. However, the weapon change is not permanent; you can try out a new weapon later without losing progress on weapons you have already leveled up. Your equipment always stays up to date and is never reset.

    In New World Aeternum you will have 15 weapons at your disposal:

  • One-handed weapons: hand axe, rapier, flail and shield, sword and shield
  • Ranged weapons: blunderbuss, bow and musket
  • Two-handed weapons: Greatsword, spear, greataxe and warhammer
  • Magic Weapons: Void Glove, Ice Glove, Fire Staff and Life Staff

    • You should also collect everything you find on your adventures. Items that you don’t need can either be sold or stored in your warehouse in the cities. Good to know: When crafting, you can later access all warehouses in the various cities.

    If you want to level up faster, you can turn on the optional PvP. You do run the risk of being attacked in the open world, but you will receive more experience points in return. You can only turn PvP on and off in settlements.

    If you start New World with friends, you should also agree on which faction you want to choose. This is the only way you can really experience the whole game together. The factions also decide whether you can be together in a guild, called a company in the game.

    There are the following factions in the game:

  • The Marauders: The Marauders are a bit like pirates. They love freedom more than power, they are strong and they value causing a lot of damage.
  • The Alliance: The alliance is reminiscent of crusaders. They are armored warriors who fight against evil on the island of Aeternum. The faction takes on the role of the purist heroes.
  • The Syndicate: The Syndicate is where the alchemists and magicians of New World gather. Game director Scot Lane describes them as a kind of “alternative version of Isaac Newton”. They are cunning, intellectual and on the search for forbidden knowledge.

    • However, the differences are mainly visual and do not have a major impact on gameplay.

    This is how you really play together

    In New World, you can be in a group of five players. To be able to play with your friends, you should choose the same server. A maximum of 3,000 players can be online at the same time on a server in New World. If a server is full, you will automatically be placed on the waiting list.

    Our recommendation for the server selection is the German and English-speaking server Aaru, which is not new, but is the only one where you will often meet German-speaking players. However, new servers could be added when the game launches on consoles. New World currently has twelve servers in total, three of which are in Europe.
