Mediobanca Moodys confirms Baa1 long term rating

(Telestock) – Mediobancathe main Italian business, has opened a new office in Frankfurt dedicated to advisory activities in Corporate & Investment Banking in Germany, with a particular focus on the Mid Corporate segment which has grown successfully in Italy in recent years.

The new headquarters, operational starting from July thanks to a newly formed team of 12 professionalswill offer M&A and Debt Advisory services to German companies, family businesses and private investors in various sectors, mainly in the Mid Corporate segment. The transaction will also allow Mediobanca to expand its range of services, including cross-border M&A advisory activities, strengthening the bank’s commitment in Germany.

The Frankfurt office will be led by Wolfram Schmerlas Branch Manager and Christoph Handrup as Co-Head of Mediobanca Germany, both of whom will report to Lorenzo Astolfi, Head of Global Mid Corporate & Sponsor Solutions at Mediobanca.

Schmerl, a professional with over thirty years of experience in the Corporate Finance sector, was among the co-founders of Alantra Germany, holding the role of Managing Partner and CEO. Handrup, already a partner and co-founder of Alantra Germany, has gained over 18 years of experience in the M&A market. Also Maximilian Rohardtanker senior with over 18 years of experience in leveraged finance and restructuring, will join the German team as Head of Debt Advisory.

The decision to also occupy and expand in the German market is consistent with the Strategic Plan 2023-26 “One Brand One Culture” which has, among its main objectives, the creation of a broader and more diversified European CIB platform, with higher revenues from non-domestic business activities (from 40% to 55%) and capital light (from 28% to 40%), making advisory the primary product for contribution and growth of the division’s revenues.
