(Telestock) – Over the last 12 months, over 2 million citizens have used Artificial Intelligence through the INPS website through the “Digital Pension Consultant”: a service created within the PNRR projects, through which pensioners can already easily check whether or not they are entitled to supplementary benefits based on their specific situation.
The Institute itself communicates this in a note, underlining that INPS was among the first public organizations in Europe to have implemented and today to use Artificial Intelligence in citizen services. A figure that goes against the trend according to the evidence emerging from the European Commission’s report on the decade digital which sees Italy only in 20th place in the implementation of AI.

And it is precisely the use of Artificial Intelligenceand in Public Administrations was discussed at the conference “Administrative Artificial Intelligence (IAA). Principles and rules for the exercise of public functions” promoted by INPS and the University of Rome “Foro Italico” / Center for Law and Ethics Studies, on July 4 and July 5 in Rome at Palazzo Wedekind.

The conference was held with the scientific coordination of Gennaro Terracciano in collaboration with the Europa Association, an organization with participatory status at the Council of Europe, and sponsored by the Departments for Digital Transformation and Civil Service of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of the Interior, INAIL, ISTAT and the Lottomatica Foundation. Over 40 national and international speakers participated in an interdisciplinary perspective and 600 participants connected from all over the world.

The Minister of Public Administration will open the proceedings Paolo Zangrillo, teachertogether with the president of INPS Gabriele Fava, the rector of the University of Rome “Foro Italico”, Attilio Parisi, the general attorney of the State Gabriella Palmieri Sandulli and the general delegate of
Europe NGO Michel Senimon.

The final round table speakers included the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, the President of INAIL Fabrizio D’Ascenzo, the President of ISTAT Francesco Maria Chelli, the President of the Section of the Council of State Michele Corradino, the General Director of AGID Mario Nobile, and the Vice President of the Guarantor for the Protection of Personal Data Ginevra Cerrina Feroni.

“Artificial Intelligence will help us a lot in the coming years to remodel and personalize INPS services and benefits on the life cycle of citizens”, explains the president Gabriel Fava who adds: “Artificial Intelligence will not replace people but will enhance them, improve skills and make services increasingly competitive and contextualized. In our country there is an unjustified fear in the use of Artificial Intelligence, yet it is a technology that is present in our lives more than we can imagine”.

“The Instituteor It was one of the first public bodies to issue a specific directive on the use of AI: a strategic document with which we commit ourselves to an ethical and transparent use of new technologies”, adds Valeria Vittimberga, general manager
of the INPS.
