The verdict is coming in dribs and drabs for the members of the outgoing government. From 24 candidates on the starting line, there were still 19 for the second round, after five of them withdrew due to the risk of the election of a National Rally MP.
For the moment, most of the candidate ministers have been re-elected, many of them benefiting from the withdrawals in the face of the National Rally. This is particularly the case for Gabriel Attal, who won with 61.6% of the vote in Hauts-de-Seine against the candidate of the New Popular Front. Victory also for Gérald Darmanin with 58.9% of the vote in his stronghold of Tourcoing, against the candidate of the National Rally. Or for Stéphane Séjourné, Minister of Foreign Affairs and also a candidate in Hauts-de-Seine, who won with 72.6% against the candidate of the Ecologists.
The outgoing ministers who were predicted to have a more complex second round also came through. This is particularly the case for Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Agriculture, who won with 53.5% of the vote in Pas-de-Calais against the National Rally candidate. Or Franck Riester, Minister responsible for Relations with Parliament, who won with 54.4% of the vote in Seine-et-Marne against the RN, while he was more than ten points behind after the first round.
Two candidate ministers have so far been defeated. This is the case of the Minister of Civil Service Stanislas Guérini, beaten in the 3rd constituency of Paris by the ecologist candidate of the New Popular Front Léa Balage El Mariky, who obtained 53.4% of the votes. Sarah El Haïry, Minister Delegate in charge of Children, Youth and Family, was also defeated in Loire-Atlantique, beaten by the socialist candidate of the New Popular Front.
