The tires must have a diameter section of about 30 cm. The tubeless (without inner tube), allows to match them with lower pressures and all this provides a larger surface area of contact with the ground, and a gain in comfort. In the general classification, Pogacar is still 33 seconds ahead of Evenpoel. The podium is completed by Jonas Vingegaard who is 1 minute and 15 seconds behind the Slovenian. Roglic is 4th at 1’36” just ahead of Pogacar’s two partners in the UAD team, namely Ayuso (5th at 2’16) and Almeida (6th at 2’17)
11:20 – “We can lose the Tour today”
Tadej Pogacar admitted that this stage is not decisive, but it can cause an upheaval in the general classification. “A decisive stage I don’t think, but we have to be even more focused, more sharp. We’re going to have to pay attention to each gravel sector, each entrance, each exit. The wind, the rain maybe, there are a lot of things that can make you fall so it’s not a decisive stage, but we can lose the Tour tomorrow (Sunday). You can be the best in gravel, if you have a puncture at the wrong time, you can lose time. There will be a lot of good teams, we’re going to have to control it.”

11:04 – 2000m of positive elevation gain
There will be many traps in this particular course in Troyes with 2000m of positive elevation gain. The path which is never flat is hard from start to finish with a little less elevation gain at the end of the stage. The succession of restarts after each path will hurt the legs. It will be necessary to press, stop, turn, restart at full speed and constantly reposition yourself. In short, a very technical stage which should delight Mathieu Van Der Poel.
10:59 – A unique journey
The teams have been preparing for this stony 9th stage for months. Indeed, 32 km will be strewn with gravel, this clay-limestone rock of the Kymmeridigian type, formed in the Upper Jurassic 155 million years ago. It will be necessary to tame this very important part of the race, in terms of particular driving, as well as the specific tires adapted to this type of course.

Sunday, July 7, the day of the second round of the legislative elections, the 9th stage of the Tour de France promises to be very tricky with many white paths covered on the 199 kilometers of the route around Troyes. 14 sectors will be on the program on a total of 32 km dismantled including six sectors which are placed in the last 30 kilometers.
