23:21 – Summary of the meeting
Football is sometimes cruel, and the outcome of this match between the Netherlands and Turkey can only confirm it. While the Dutch seemed lost tonight in Berlin against a determined Turks who were much more incisive in the penalty areas, they benefited from a short period of uncertainty among their opponents to score two opportunistic goals through De Vrij (70th) and Muldur (76th own goal). The scenario was quickly reversed, and the Dutch went from eliminated to qualified very quickly. Which explains the great joy of the Oranje at the final whistle, a joy that betrays a relief from Memphis Depay’s partners who had almost nothing to put under their teeth in terms of chances until the first goal except perhaps two missed by Depay (1st, 47th).
It was quite the opposite on the Turkish side, Vincenzo Montella’s team pleasantly surprised us with their intention to play the game and create the difference in attack thanks to Guler’s vision and the attacking speed of Yilmaz and Yildiz. Brilliant in midfield, Turkey had logically opened the score through Akaydin (36th) on a cross from Guler. But they will undoubtedly bitterly regret the many missed attempts in front of Verbuggen’s goal like the actions of Guler (56th), Yildiz (65th), Celik (85th), Akturkoglu (85th) and Kilicsoy (91st). The good performance of the Netherlands goalkeeper, Verbruggen, is no stranger to these many missed opportunities for the Turks.
Holland therefore reaches the semi-finals, but Turkey can be proud of its fine performance in this EURO which has given a lot of colour back to Turkish football, which seemed lost for more than a decade. The many spectators at the Olympiastadion will remember this stunning match for a long time, like the three other quarter-finals of this European Cup.
22:58 – Turkey out after its best match
Turkey delivered a magnificent performance against the Netherlands, it was by far the best game of Guler’s teammates in the competition. Unfortunately a lack of attention in defense in the middle of the second half got the better of the Turkish hopes.
22:57 – Holland to challenge England
The Netherlands, who have not reached this stage of the competition since EURO 2008, will face England on Wednesday in Dortmund. While in the other match, France will face Spain.

With just two minutes left in added time, the Turks are all in the Dutch box.

Great save from the Dutch goalkeeper after a deflection from Kilicsoy in the box. What a save!
22:45 – Tosun’s head above
Tosun sees his header go just over Verburggen’s goal. Turkey keep pushing!
22:43 – Celik and Turkogku stumble on the Dutch defense
Double chance for the Turks, Celik and Turkoglu alone in the area came up against the opposing defense. Montella’s men can blame themselves
22:39 – Tosun returns to the Turkish side
Tosun and Celik returned to the Turkish side, replacing Akaydin and Muldur
22:34 – Gakpo gives Holland the lead again
The Netherlands completely reversed the score thanks to Gakpo, who scored from a cross from Dumfries in the box. Turkey experienced five fatal minutes. 2-1 for Holland
22:30 – Depay jostled in the area
Ozcan slightly jostles Depay in the box, Turpin signals a six-yard exit
22:28 – De Vrij equalizes!
Completely alone in the box, defender De Vrij benefits from an excellent cross from Depay to place a beautiful header and deceive Gunok, too far from the ball. The Netherlands come back into the match. 1 goal each
22:23 – Yildiz’s shot is on target!
Another great opportunity for the Turks, it was Yildiz who distinguished himself with a shot on target, pushed back with difficulty by Verbruggen
22:22 – Van Dijk also warned
Van Dijk also gets a yellow card for pushing Yilmaz
22:19 – Turkey retreats
Even though the Dutch struggled to create clear chances, Turkey went down a notch in this second period. Montella’s men also gave possession to their opponents
