Whether as a catwalk trainer, presenter or jury member – the 66-year-old loves being in the spotlight and inspiring the audience. Bruce Darnell: A look back at the career of the GNTM icon
Bruce Darnell has been a well-known figure on TV for almost 20 years, but the 66-year-old had to fight hard for his success: Darnell comes from a difficult background, served in the US Army as a young man and risked his life for six years as a paratrooper. He later came to Germany and made a living as a waiter until he finally made his breakthrough as a catwalk model.
Then Darnell really took off. In 2006, he hit Germany’s Next Top Model like a bomb. The TV audience celebrated the eccentric catwalk coach for his courage to defy the gender roles of the time. The heavy American accent became his trademark and soon the whole of Germany knew the words “Drama, baby, drama!”Lucrative advertising deals and TV appearances followed, including as a jury member on Supertalent.

“It makes my dream come true.” Bruce Darnell talks about his guest role on Sturm der Liebe
Fans will soon be able to judge whether the versatile entertainer is also a born actor. As ARD announced, the former model will take on a guest role in the early evening soap Sturm der Liebe.
Bruce has been a fan of the show for a long time and is therefore particularly excited about his chance:
I love the series Sturm der Liebe and have always been a loyal viewer myself. The fact that I have now gotten a small role is a dream come true for me. As ARD confirms, Darnell plays himself in the soap. As part of his guest role, he will check into the Fürstenhof after a strange coincidence has led him to the idyllic paradise. Darnell will then make friends with the staff there and in return will be treated to local specialties. A heartfelt moment has already been teased: Waiter Hanno (Hanno Dobiat) will turn out to be a huge Bruce fan and will then a very personal catwalk training receive.
Fans can look forward to an iconic appearance from the TV legend.
