Hamas source: Ceasefire talks to be held after hostage talks | News in brief

Negotiations on the release of the hostages between Israel and Hamas will begin within 16 days. After that, it’s the turn of the ceasefire negotiations.

The extremist organization Hamas has accepted a US proposal to start ceasefire talks after talks on the release of Israeli hostages.

According to the news agency Reuters, a Hamas source tells about the matter.

According to the source, Hamas has dropped its demand that Israel commit to the condition of a permanent ceasefire before the hostage negotiations begin.

This means that negotiations that have been at an impasse are now possibly coming to an end.

Negotiations on the release of the hostages between Israel and Hamas will begin within 16 days, a Hamas source says.

After that, the two sides can begin ceasefire talks that could end the more than nine-month war in Gaza.

Hamas proposes a temporary ceasefire during the hostage negotiations, during which aid organizations would enter Gaza and Israel would withdraw its soldiers from the area.

Hamas expects a quick response from Israel to its proposal. So far, Israel’s War Cabinet has not commented on Hamas’ claims of ceasefire talks.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu the staff has previously said that talks on a Gaza ceasefire will resume next week.

The Gaza war began when Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7. 1,200 people died in the attack. In addition, Hamas took at least 250 Israelis hostage.

More than 38,000 Palestinians have already died in Gaza during the war.
