This is the first public reaction from an official to the Chadfollowing the announcement earlier this week by the French press that a preliminary investigation had been opened in France in January of this year against the president Mahamat Idriss Deby for “embezzlement and concealment” concerning clothing expenses of the Chadian presidency for more than 900,000 euros in Paris three years ago.

The National Transitional Council firmly condemns this cowardly accusation which discredits not only the Head of State, but also and above all the sovereignty of our country, and beyond that, the Chadian people who have just given their overwhelming vote to the President of the Republic.. »

Until now, only the civil society organization “Tournons la page – Tchad” had called on French investigators to shed light on this affair to find out whether Mahamat Deby is responsible for these facts or whether it is his entourage…
