A still little-known but promising streaming platform is coming to Europe! Free and legal, it offers more than 20,000 films and series, including original productions.
In recent years, streaming companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ have launched lower-cost, ad-supported subscriptions, while gradually increasing the prices of other plans. But not only are prices increasing regularly, but you also have to multiply your subscriptions to access exclusive content, given that SVODs are multiplying like hotcakes. And it is difficult to share an account to limit costs, with platforms now limiting this practice.
Fortunately, it is not essential to pay to watch movies and series in streaming. Indeed, alongside the behemoths, there are many completely free and perfectly legal video services. The best known are TF1+, M6+, Rakuten.tv, Pluto TV or TV5 Monde Plus.
But there is a relatively unknown one that offers more than 20,000 films and series for free and legally. We are of course talking about Tubi, a platform unknown in our countries but which claims to be “the largest free movie and TV streaming service in the United States.”
Owned by US media giant Fox Corporation, Tubi has a whopping 80 million monthly active users in the land of Uncle Sam, where it accounts for 1% of the streaming audience, and has just launched in the UK. The platform offers over 20,000 films and TV episodes, with content curated by the world’s leading distributors including Disney, Lionsgate, NBCUniversal, Paramount and Sony Pictures Entertainment, as well as a selection of exclusive Tubi Originals. There are some great titles on offer, including Oldboy, Terminator, Mulholland Drive…In addition to partnering with major movie studios, Tubi also partners with television networks and independent producers to secure the rights to a diverse selection of movies and TV shows.
Tubi is available on mobile devices, some smart TVs, streaming devices, game consoles, and via a web browser. But the service is unfortunately not accessible in our regions at the moment. The platform’s homepage lets us know this if we try to access it.
However, it is possible to get around this limitation by using a VPN that locates us in the United States or the United Kingdom. The service’s entry into the Old Continent, however, suggests that it could arrive in France in the medium term, as evidenced by the application’s page on the Play Store, which displays visuals in French.
