The Sami youth association Sáminuorra took part in several panel discussions during the Almedal week. The talks were primarily about the green transition, but also about democracy and Sami youth. Sara-Elvira Kuhmunen summarizes the week as positive.
– It feels like many have gained a new perspective on certain topics, not least about Girjas, which was a hot topic of conversation during the week, says Kuhmunen.

Next year, she hopes that Sáminuorra and other Sámi will be able to take up more space during the week’s events.
– I think it should be a matter of course on the part of the organizers to ensure that we are included. We Sami are an important actor in the green transition and it feels problematic if we are not included.
Sáminuorra themselves will review how they can increase their participation, but at the same time hope that more organizers will invite them to participate.
