Israel plans to send its negotiators to Qatar again next week to continue negotiations.
Head of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency David Barnea negotiated Friday with Qatari mediators on a Gaza ceasefire and the release of hostages. According to a source well informed about the negotiations, Barnea and his delegation went back to Israel immediately after the negotiations.
According to Israel, there are still “gaps” between it and the extremist organization Hamas on how to secure an agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages. However, Israel says it will send negotiators to Qatar next week to continue talks.
On Thursday, a US official said a new proposal by Hamas would move the process forward and could provide the basis for a deal. However, according to him, there is still a lot of work left. The United States has acted as a mediator in the negotiations with Qatar and Egypt.
