There are free skins for selected characters in The First Descendant, but you have to find them first

The First Descendant offers you many ways to spend money. There are also free skins for descendants – but they are hidden.

With The First Descendant, the South Korean developer and publisher Nexon has released a new F2P loot shooter that is playable on consoles and via Steam. Like many F2P titles, The First Descendant has numerous ways to spend money on skins and in-game currencies.

Of course, there is also a Battle Pass in the shooter. If you browse through the twelve pages of the Battle Pass, you will also come across some content that you get for free, i.e. without buying the premium version for the equivalent of around 10 euros.

The free items in the Battle Pass include weapon skins, trophies and materials – but you won’t find any skins for your descendants, i.e. the playable characters. There are free skins in the Battle Pass menu that are hidden in a separate menu.

Skins hidden in the mini menu

Where can you find the free skins? You can find the free skins in the menu under the “Battle Pass” tab. There you have various tabs that you can open:

  • Premium Upgrade (top left of the screen)
  • Challenges (top left of the screen)
  • Battle Pass (bottom center of screen)
  • Bonus Shop (bottom center of the screen)
  • However, at the bottom right of the screen you will find another symbol that has no label. This will take you to the free skins. There you will find three weapon skins, spawn animations, a name card and trophies as well as three descendant skins.

Free skins for tons of supply coins

For which descendants are there free skins? There are free skins for the three starting descendants Lepic, Ajax and Viessa. Each of the three characters receives a head and a body skin.

How do you get the skins? To get the free skins, you need to reach season levels 50 and 96 and then unlock them for supply coins.

Here you can see an overview of the skins and the activation conditions:

The First Descendant: Farm supply coins and unlock free skins

How do you get supply coins? You can farm Supply Coins by completing Weekly Challenges or Seasonal Challenges, which can also be found in the Battle Pass menu when you select the Challenges tab.

For example, in Week 1, you can earn 5 Supply Coins by dealing 10,000,000 damage with firearms.

The seasonal challenges are much more worthwhile, but also more time-consuming. You get:

  • 26 Supply Coins when you reach Mastery Rank 20
  • 17 Supply Coins when you have earned 20,000,000 gold
  • 32 Supply Coins when you complete 300 interception missions
  • 20 Supply Coins when you start the main quest “The Masters’ Attitude”
  • 23 Supply Coins when you find 50 Awards
  • 29 supply coins if you have used 200x amorphous material
  • 35 Supply Coins when you defeat 200,000 enemies (Vulgus)
  • 15 Supply Coins when you upgrade the special ability of an Ultimate weapon
  • So you can get a total of 197 Supply Coins through the Season Challenges. This will get you the first five rewards on page one. However, it’s not enough for Ajax’s head skin.
