(Telestock) – Ffinal to frame for the 28th Menarini International Fair Play Award with the legends of sport that they enchant the packed stands of the Roman Theatre of Fiesole. The event dedicated to the values of ethics, loyalty and respect celebrated last night, with the awards ceremony, the winners of the 2024 edition, undisputed examples of fairness and sportsmanship in competition and in life.
Spectators of the Roman Theatre they greeted with applause icons of the international scene: starting with Samuel Eto’o, representative of the best world football and timeless glory of Cameroon and the captain of the 2006 world champion national team Fabio Cannavaro and two other pillars of the Azzurri: Ciro Ferrara, vice champion at Euro 2000, and Giuseppe Dossena, “hero of Spain” at the ’82 World Cup. Closing out the football roster, a master like Cesare Prandelli, who led the Italian national team to second place at the 2012 European Championships.
Among the extraordinary athletes who walked the red carpet atFair Play Menarinithe speed skating queen Francesca Lollobrigida, winner of the 2018 European Championships, and sprinter Ambra Sabatini, Italian flag bearer at the Paris Paralympics. Basketball was able to count on an extraordinary interpreter in Marco Belinelli, NBA phenomenon, while volleyball found its leading representative in Gian Paolo Montali, former coach of the Italian men’s volleyball team, two-time European champion. And then Roberto Rigali, silver medalist at the 2023 Budapest World Championships in the 4×100 relay, rally and Formula 1 legend Cesare Fiorio and multiple world heavyweight record holder Clemente Russo. Finally, sports journalism sees Federico Buffa as the winner, voice and face of the feats of great athletes.
To award them, those who preceded them in the Roll of Honour: the Menarini Fair Play Ambassadors. Among them, the “Divine” Federica Pellegrini, winner of the 2022 edition and godmother of the event, together with the presenters Rachele Sangiuliano and Omar Schillaci, for the first edition of the Award created in partnership with Sky TG24.
