“I think the first set was one of the better ones of the year,” said Van de Zandschulp (28) during the press talk. “I just didn’t reward myself in the tiebreak. I played a very good tiebreak until 6-3. Then I played two sloppy points and missed a return that I could have made. I played a bit too conservatively. At such a moment it’s more hoping than that I’m going to get the point myself. Maybe the confidence isn’t there yet to push through at important moments.”
