Having qualified without a hitch for the second round of the early legislative elections, what will be the result of Jean-Philippe Tanguy (RN) this Sunday, July 7 in the Somme?
Very close to being elected in the first round in the 4th constituency of the Somme. Jean-Philippe Tanguy qualified for the second round of the early legislative elections by collecting 49.62% of the votes, finishing well ahead of Anthony Gest, representing the presidential majority (18.47%), Elodie Héren of the New Popular Front (17.01%) and Vincent Jacques of LR (13.48%). With nearly 18,000 votes ahead of his first opponent, the former deputy campaign manager for Marine Le Pen in 2022 can envisage a new victory, after having been elected in 2022. The configuration of the 2nd round will be the same as two years ago since he will face a Macronist candidate, although it will not be the same one.
The ballot is therefore extremely favorable for one of the leading figures of the National Rally. Barring a cataclysm, he should be elected as a deputy and find a place on the benches of the National Assembly. The transfer of votes from the candidate of the New Popular Front (Elodie Héren) should not be enough to make up for the delay of her Macronist opponent.Below is a first projection of the new National Assembly according to the pollster Ipsos Talan.
Towards a position at Bercy?
In the event of a party victory in the legislative election and the formation of an RN government, the appointment of MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy as Minister of the Economy could arise. Indeed, although no name has been officially communicated, that of the MP for the 4th constituency of the Somme could be invited into the debate.
The “party’s Mr. Economy”, as the newspaper Les Echos calls him, could well be entrusted with the eponymous ministry. With a central objective: to give credibility to the RN’s economic program, which remains vague. For the Cercle des économistes, the latter’s project appears to be “unrealistic, ineffective and fallacious”. In dire need of big fish and experts in the field, the National Rally could therefore be tempted to entrust the position to Jean-Philippe Tanguy, a former member of the Finance Committee, with a technical profile, a graduate of ESSEC and Sciences Po Paris.
Marine Le Pen’s “Mr. Economy” defends the progressiveness of retirement rights
Criticized on the cost of its pension reform, the National Rally (RN) wanted to clarify some gray areas through Marine Le Pen’s “Mr. Economy”, Jean-Philippe Tanguy. “The repeal of Emmanuel Macron’s law raises the pivot age to 62 – and no longer 64. We are returning to the previous situation. And the reform (…) is a progression of rights for those who started working between 20 and 22, with a retirement between 60 and 62 according to a number of annuities that increases over time”, declared Jean-Philippe Tanguy on France Inter on June 25. In total, the repeal of this pension reform and the changes envisaged by the RN should cost 9 billion euros.
