Classy France beat the Finnish women’s basketball team by 58 points with a score of 117–59 (58-25) in the national match played in Roche-sur-Yon.
France once again showed that they are in an excellent fight towards the home Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris.
– An extremely educational basketball match. Compared to the first game against France, where we were completely overwhelmed, in this match we were able to improve our playing during the match. In particular, we were able to produce significantly higher quality scoring chances the further the match progressed. The things that have been practiced and emphasized started to work, Finland’s head coach Ilkka Palviainen commented in the announcement.
France had 13 players in the lineup in the game, each of whom got a taste of points. Ten or more threw Iliana Rupert (18/6), Mamignan Toure (15/2), Gabby Williams (14/4), Marie Paule Foppossi (11/2) and Alexia Chery (10/3).
– Of course, the numbers are ugly. Clearly, these two matches have taught us a lot. We are rehearsing things for the November window. And those situations where the execution is enough against France, they will definitely be enough against any European team, Palviainen estimates.
Finnish players Teresa Seppälä (14/5) played a good match, destroying both ends of the field. Playmaker Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta (8/2) led his troops in an exemplary manner. Remember Finland’s top women Awak Kuier your balance on 12/2 Elina Aarnisalo 8/5, Sara Bejedi 7 and Elina Koskimies 5/1/3s.
